Column shift does not move linkage

Asked by Old_Iron May 15, 2017 at 04:50 PM about the 1972 Chevrolet El Camino Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1972 El Camino has no control over the linkage to the transmission.  It moves from park to L1 but no interface to the shifting linkage.  Is there a piece in the column that may be broken?  If so where is it and where can I find the replacement part?

1 Answer

I meant the column shifting lever has no control over the linkage under the hood to the TH350.
