Cranks but won't start

Asked by Jan 01, 2016 at 09:59 AM about the 2005 Kia Optima EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Cranks but won't start u can hear the fuel pump it works

1 Answer

Just because you can hear pump working does not mean its pumping could not be pumping the right fuel pressure. Have fuel pump pressure tested pressure should be between 52 - 58. Another way to test is to spray some starting fluid or throttle cleaner into throttle and if it starts then shuts off pump is not pumping correct fuel pressure but the 100% test is the pressure test.
