why is the serpitine belt shredding after install

I installed a power steering pump and pulley. I put the belt on and it is shredding. Why

make sure your new pulley has the correct number of groves,and all pulleys in line, sight from side!

One of your pulleys may worn out.

more than likely you did not get the new pulley pressed on all the way.
