what are the two plug looking things on the bottom of transmission

I have a 1996 jeep Cherokee sport,while driving on the
highway the motor reved up like it was in neutral. Was only
able to go 25mph and rpm's was  3-4. Any idea of what to try
before spending lots of $$$$

Can you post a pic? First thing I would check is if your trans fluid level is correct. If that is ok, are you saying there are electrical plugs not connected?
