Has anyone heard of a dealer being unable to finance an older vehicle?

Asked by Jan 20, 2016 at 12:40 PM about the 1997 Jeep Wrangler Sport

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I sat down with a sales lady for a 1997 TJ. She asked my plans for purchasing
the TJ, I said that I already been pre-approved. She stated "good, we could
not do that". Has anyone else heard of a dealer who is unable to finance older

Yes, I tried to finance a Cherry '99 Tahoe and I could not get a loan from my bank of 30 years and my credit union I had even longer. I have a great credit history but no one wants to finance an older vehicle.

Big banks won't hand out loans on cars older than 8 years old. No profit. Bank want their money. You will be paying a higher interest rate as well as you probably already found out on your preapproved loan.
