what could cause 2nd gear to take to long to shift into 3rd

my 99 mustang 3.8 auto tranny went out i bought a 96  auto tranny and swaped vale body and everyting conected to the bottom faceing pan. i also swaped shift pin and nuetral switch.  now it will roll in park and make a clicking sound. and when driving it shifts from 1st to 2nd fine but takes a min to sift from 2nd to 3rd what could cause this

The rolling and clicking sound is caused by the parking paw not engaging. The late shifting sounds like a solenoid sticking. HTH. -Jim
