2000 Jeep Wrangler possible purchase--needs new water pump. Thoughts?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Looking at buying a 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sahara with 180k on the clock. Apparently the thermostat and water pump need to be replaced--mechanic said that the engine is ok though. $3,500 too much? What should I expect to pay for the water pump to be replaced. It's a straight-6, so 180k isn't terrible. Any thoughts?

$3500 to replace a water pump? $350 is more like it. Find another mechanic.
