My 2002 jeep grand cherokee will start but you have to pump the gas real hard then it will stall and wont start. It made a backfire noise before this started what could be wrong.

You will have to have a pro check your fuel injection- and the ignition- just take it to a garage- you do have a good mechanic, don't you? If you get lucky, it might be something simple like a cold-start valve or a fuel pump relay-
