How do I get my 2002 Jeep Wrangler Sahara from 4H back to 2H?
I recently bought the jeep, 2002 Wrangler, Sahara, Automatic. It snowed the other day, a friend of mine put my jeep in 4 wheel drive low. I've put in neutral to shift it back down to 2 wheel drive but it won't engage. The lever goes all the way down like it's in 2 wheel drive but the "Part Time" light is still on and when I make a turn or kinda sharp turn the jeep wont do it- it barely turns, the back tires are trying to go different directions.
I am not a pro when it comes to jeeps or cars in general. i just love the jeep and i'm kinda afraid i f-ed something up when trying to get it back to 2 wheel drive.
I heard I should try driving in reverse for like 100ft. i havent tried that yet. Any advice would be most appreciated!! Thanks so much.
Driving back and forth a little and then stopping and trying to shift should do it. It may take some muscle though. Whatever you do, DON'T drive it on dry pavement when in 4 wheel drive. Turning when locked in may damage the transfer case.
Sometimes just slipping the clutch a little can do the trick.
THANKS! it's an automatic. i've driven a little bit on it and turned a little which it definietly did not like. Do you think it's alright? I havent driven or gone too far with it.
