2015 yukon LED brake light
My 2015 Yukon Dinali XL brake light passenger-side
stopped working. I discovered you could repair it yourself
with a soldering iron and a little piece of wire.I found a
video on YouTube which shows you how to do it. It was
fairly easy although I am handy. The repair cost me $30
and I bought a new soldering iron. The new brake light
from GM cost $550. I’ve discovered that many have gone
bad.
Did it fix the issue? Be driver side passenger light has gone out. Debating if I want to spend the money or send it to be repaired.
How did you take the light apart to get into it to solder it?
After removing it from the truck on the backside you cut into the plastic in these two specific locations. They will expose the two plates that need to be soldered together. There is one towards the top of the brake light and one towards the bottom of the brake light
you can use a Dremel to cut into the backside gently exposing the metal, then use the Dremel to rough up the surfaces of the metal so it will except the solder. If you have electrical soldering flux and a little solid telephone bell wire that’s all you need. Finish with a little dab of silicone to seal

After completing soldering install little silicone don’t get carried away

Even if you were able to repair it yourself using the great advice posted on this website, GMC needs to take responsibility for the faulty part.
