What is the gear ratio in my rear end in my jeep wrangler x, ive heard it is 307 and i was going to get a 4 inch lift with 33s or 34s and i was thinking that would be a good near stock ratio

I would upgrade to a 3.43 or 3.73 with 33 or 34inch tires! stok 3.07 will cause you loss of hp &ft/lbs of torque through your trans (stick or auto) Fuel economy will drop so far that you will go broke (empty pockets)with stock ratio gears! Also why you have the rears opened up, think about installing a good set of lockers! good website for you- www.quadratec.com !Trust ME !!

Check to make sure what your gearing is first. There should be a small tag on your rear differential that will have it stamped onto it. Lifted04Chevy is right about what he said. If you ever want lockers, do it now so you don't have to pay for setup twice. Also, talk to some other Jeepers running the size of tire you want. You may want to consider even lower gears (4.10s maybe). The heavier tires will take some of the power away too. My 98 came from the factory with 3.73s, but I'm afraid to go much bigger than the 31s I have withouth swapping to a 4.10 or 4.56. It already has problems pulling some hills in fifth gear. Like I said, find someone locally who has done what you want to do and aske them. Maybe you could even talk them into letting you drive their Jeep a little bit so you can see what it feels like.
