2010 Yukon Oil Gauge at Zero

Asked by Guru91YWDR Dec 09, 2021 at 09:50 AM about the 2010 GMC Yukon Denali

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have a 2010 GMC Yukon Denali 8 cylinder. After driving for about 25
minutes turned car off for a child drop off started engine and check engine
light came on, oil gauge at zero but oil pressure warning light does not come
on. Ran fine before, no odd noises, changed oil & filter appx 2 weeks ago.
No oil leaking. Suggestions.

These are my ONLY opinions and only suggestions: Low or too high Engine Oil level. Contaminated Engine Oil. Low Engine Oil Viscosity. Wrong Engine Oil Grade. Malfunctioning Engine Oil Pressure Sender unit. or just a Faulty Engine Oil Pressure Gauge. thanks

Check the oil level on the dipstick to verify the oil is full. If it is, the sending unit for the gauge is most likely bad. To confirm this, turn the ignition on but don't start the engine. The red oil pressure light should be on (looks like a little red oil can). If the light is working but the gauge isn't, replace the sending unit for the gauge. Hope that helps! Jim

Oil pressure sensor I have a 2002 GMC Sierra with a 5.3L l that I had to change it on and I also have a 2012 GMC Yukon Denali with a 6.2L and the same thing happened but the 6.2L is very hard to get to at the back of the motor and the 5.3L is fairly simple.
