Is a V8 flex fuel truck an alternative to a regular diesel
truck? If so would I be able to put regular diesel in it.?
A flexible-fuel vehicle (FFV) or dual-fuel vehicle (colloquially called a flex-fuel vehicle) is an alternative fuel vehicle with an internal combustion engine designed to run on more than one fuel, usually gasoline blended with either ethanol or methanol fuel, and both fuels are stored in the same common tank.
So no you cannot run diesel in a gas engine, flex fuel or not.
The only fuels you can run is E10-E15 and then there is a big jump to E85, but most folks stay with E10 cause when the ethanol increases in the mix the power decreases right along with the MPG.
tennisshoes, what is regular unleaded gas? In are town we are getting the E-85 gas. I assume it is something different that regular unleaded? My car is a 2010 Chevy Impala that has the flex fuel set-up and I have ben running the regular unleaded in it.
Regular is right now E10, and that is 90% gasoline and 10% ethanol, they are trying to get E15 but are meeting some resistance too it, and then there is the E85 alternative fuel, and that is 85% ethanol 15% gasoline.
Would my Impala run with the E-85 fuel, I assume it is going to be cheaper since all it is, is corn.
Rowefast it will only run if it is equipped with the E85 control systems, it will not work in a normal E10 vehicle. My neighbor has a flex fuel vehicle and he tried running E85 one time and said it really sucked power wise and mileage really dropped, he says never again unless it was the only fuel he could get.
Thank you shoes...
Your welcome, have a nice one.
