putting car in gear and dies

I have a 1990 Isuzu trooper that I've
changed plug wires on chand the o ring on
distributor  and now when I start it it runs
rough and when I put it in gear it dies can
anyone help me

is it an automatic? if so, try locating and unplugging the torque converter control solenoid. if it "fixes", then that is your issue
