Should i replace the tranmission pump or the whole transmission in my 1999 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition?

My Transmission pump went out on my truck. It was making a whining noise and now the truck won't go in drive.

Are you asking about the Torque Convertor that failed. I'm sure the shop your working with will recommend a full rebuild. Most times when one part fails, the rest are right behind. How many miles? If over 140K, then I'd rebuild it if you plan on driving the SUV for a few more years.

I was told that it was a transmission pump that went out. I have 18k on the dash for miles. Now is it a possibility that the Torque convertor/ or trans pump to be replaced and it will work correctly?
