I am having trouble starting. Help please?

My car started after excessive cranking and would not start
again due to spark. Plugs, wires, coil and it's connector
were all determined damaged, then replaced. Trying to start
there was one backfire and the engine hesitated on every
forth crank accompanied with a strange noise that
sounded like a muffled duck. I was hoping someone might
know what my next steps should be. Maybe a fuel issue as
well?
