99 Ford Contour SE V6 was running, then radio faded out, guages stopped working

car ran but seemed to dump into gear then run, then repeated several times  Got home, let sit, car started but battery light seemed to flicker but did not stay on.  Battery is less than three years old.

Have the battery load tested,the cold ,bring,s out the bad battery,s,if battery is checked and good,then check the alternator,these can be checked by autozone or advance auto for free.

Battery tested as fine, but alternator supposedly not. There seems to be alot of different instructions in how to remove it. Anyone know what the official service manual says?
