Welcome to the world of GM! My Niece also has a '17 Malibu that she bought brand new. It's a piece of junk! When the car was 10 months old the transmission failed. She was without the car for two and a half months. She's had three dead batteries, and multiple check engine light problems. If you're out of warranty you're on your own! A faulty radio would not be the cause of a recall. I would also suggest having the radio repaired or replaced by a reputable radio shop. There's other things tied into it like the vehicle security system, for example. If it's not done correctly there's a very good chance the security system will lock down the vehicle and you'll be forced to go to your local Chevrolet Dealer for repairs! Hope that helps! Jim

Recalls are generally for safety issues so a radio doesn’t qualify. You most cost effective way to fix this is to find a place like Car Toys and have the unit replaced with an aftermarket system.
