2017 Camry A/C blows cold in the morning but not when Ambiant Temp goes up

Asked by Guru9JSFFK May 02, 2023 at 07:48 AM about the 2017 Toyota Camry SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Fan blows fine, you Can hear the A/C clutch kick on but kicks off just as fast
in the afternoon. When the compressor is running the low pressure is about
25~28 PSI and high pressure is around 175 PSI. I added refrigerant and it
made the problem worse, so I removed the refrigerant I had put into the
system.  Sounds like a defaulty pressure switch but there is one in the A/C
line next to the radiator and three set of wires going to the compressor. With
no lights on the dash on I'm not sure what to replace.

175 seem a little high with the low pressure that low check for air flow blockage through the front and if the cooling fans kick on when the AC is selected. Text book is 32 low pressure and 165 high pressure.

I would start by replacing your A/C pressure switch. A faulty one will cause the symptoms you're currently having. I would change out this part first and see if there's a change. I believe if your compressor is bad, the A/C light should be flashing.
