Theft deterrent system

Asked by Renee Nov 22, 2018 at 01:08 AM about the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze LT Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2017 Chevy Cruze (push to start) I programmed my
replacement key I got from the dealership and it worked
(they were trying to charge me $120+ to program it and
even said it's a $10,000 computer that programs it. .)  but
now there is a theft deterrent system icon on the screen, I
watched the video about taking the cable off the battery for
ten minutes and then trying it. It starts but that icon wont
go away, what should I do?

The vehicle needs to be programmed to recognized the key. They were mostly right and you were wrong. You will need to spend the $120 to get is resolved.

Around where I live (south central Kansas) we charge 1/2 hour labor at the Ford dealership which is $45.00, but this a Chevy so shop around. There are a few locksmiths that can do programming, but so are good and some are sketchy. I recommend the dealership to get this resolved.
