ford taurus same old problem won't start

Asked by Nov 24, 2016 at 07:41 AM about the 2000 Ford Taurus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a newer vehicle so the Taurus sat in the driveway for about a month. I had to move it to cut grass. No problem started right up, moved it and it ran just like always. The very next week I got in turned the key and it wouldn't start. The only way it will start now is with starting fluid. Also my tach gauge needle is not moving. Help I need to fix it so I can get rid of it. I've had it for 4 years and drove it to and from work Monday-Friday. This is the only problem I've had except replacing the starter and the battery.

Since it will only start with starting fluid, check the fuel pressure. Is the fuel pump priming when you turn the key?
