Asked by Jan 14, 2016 at 03:44 PM about the 2000 Ford Taurus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Only has water in reservoir and temp dropped and
was frozen tried to start it and it stalled start it
again and check engine light came on. Left it alone
until water completely melted. Now car will not
start. I pulled the dip stick out to see if water is
mixed with oil and once I stuck it back in all the
water in the reservoir poured out under the car.
What do you think is wrong?

Which dipstick did you pull out? The water in the reservoir poured out probably because when it froze to ice it expanded and cracked the plastic reservoir. Have the car towed to a garage to warm up. Flush the cooling system of all the water and add 50% antifreeze and 50% distilled water to the system. Also replace the coolant reservoir and hope no other damage was done.
