no start/ no crank/ just gauges bouncing.
I recently change my starter and the truck would
not start. I checked voltage on the battery and it
said 12.6v. i was getting clicks at first but no start.
I put it in neutral and it started up. I ran a couple
errands and while inside an O'Reillys it died..i
disconnected one of the positive cables (i had
two) and left the one connected. The truck started
back up in park. It did well the rest of the night.
The next day it started (in park) and ran just fine
till i shut it off. I replaced the starter and battery
and noticed that the one positive cable had been
to close to the exhaust header and burnt the
rubber off of it and had bare wires exposed that
had been touching the header. now with a brand
new starter and battery all i get when i turn the key
is no sound but the gauges on the instrument
panel all jump. At first i was thinking neutral safety
switch, and possibly ignition switch...cause i dont
know what could have been damaged electrically
when it was shorting out...any help would be
