Why won't my truck crank?

Asked by dmorda4 Jan 12, 2017 at 06:31 PM about the 1989 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Silverado 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1989 chevy K1500 broke down. Towed it home.  Next day tried to crank
and acted like battery was dead but battery checked good.  Engine will not
turn over at all. Thought it may be starter but that wouldn't cause it to shut off
while it was running. Just put new plugs, wires, ignition module and distributor
cap on about a year ago. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well you need to figure out why it doesn't turn over, Check and see if power is going to the starter on the small wire when the key is turned to the start position. May be a bad starter or a fuse, starter relay, ignition switch. On the motor part you can at least check the fuel pressure, it should be 56 to 63 lbs. Once you get it to turn over, check for spark.

Negative. I actually got it to crank up but it stalled and now it's doing the same thing again. I had the battery, starter and alternator tested and all were good. Thinking maybe ignition switch.

all the of the above comments exactly what happen to my truck also everything I checked the no engine turn over
