I have a 93 Chevy 1500 with the 5.7l and it
is running way to rich and I bought a code
reader that fits it and it showed me that the
vss is bad . Would that make my truck run
that rich?

No, it would make the trans shift a little slow or fast depending on what way the VSS is reading, also can cause speedo to be off. Rich running can be caused by a number of things, O2 sensors, ACT sensor, ECT sensor, fuel pressure too high, vacuum leaks, etc. So check the engine over thoroughly for any vacuum leaks first, if none are found then proceed on.

Make sure the vacuum line for the map sensor is hooked up and in good shape. Tennis has you going in the right direction. What is a ACT sensor tennisshoes?
