Is the knock sensor sufficient to turn on the ck.eng. light by itself?

Asked by Feb 27, 2017 at 07:10 PM about the 1997 INFINITI I30 4 Dr STD Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Had a air-temp/fuel mix sensor initially go bad, presumably fixed...the
mechanic says it is the knock sens. by itself that is activating the light.
Other sources say it in itself (k.s.) will not cause the ck. eng. light to
light. Who is right? What does the manufacturer say?

Need to scan for the codes to determine what is causing the light to go on. What 4 digit code or codes did the mechanic find?
