Engine oil level

Asked by Guru9KRH3 Jul 11, 2017 at 10:45 AM about the 2000 Chevrolet C/K 2500 LS LB HD 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a 2000 k2500 HD.  I check the oil in the
morning.  No oil on the dipstick.  So I add oil
thinking that oil us low. I add 2 quartets of engine
oil. I check the oil leval and it is good. Start the
truck up and let it run for a little bit.  Shut it off and
let it sit for ten minutes.  Recheck the oil larval and
it is 2 Quartets over full. Is there a check valve that
is not letting the oil flow back into the pan? There
are no oil leaks and no engine noise. It has 200+
miles!! I am puzzled!!

Same happens to me Twice. Looks like its happens when I checked it with the car engine cold. I don't know what it is wrong. Pressure sensor? A check valve damage?
