Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2003 mazda protege5 starts fine, sputters a little bit, sometimes dies, but
most of the time it sputters for a few secs then finally picks up the right rpms
and drives fine. battery light flashed for a split sec yesterday so i replaced
the battery and put new terminals on but still having the same problem. i just
had the engine rebuilt less than 5 months ago. cut off my cat converter as
well. i dont smell any gas/oil odors and it doesnt idle rough or anything.

If the engine was rebuilt 5 months ago then I would re-torque the intake manifold to proper specs. Sounds to me like a vacuum leak .
