1996 Hyundai Sonata leaking fuel from the fuel filter

Asked by Nov 15, 2015 at 11:15 AM about the 1996 Hyundai Sonata V6 GL FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Okay so here is what happened. My fuel
filter was installed backwards and tried to
start it and it wouldn't start. That is when I
realized it was on backwards. Bought a new
one and installed it correctly and now it
leaks where the threaded bolts go into the
filter. Not sure how to get it to stop leaking.
Any suggestions?

The fuel lines may had o-rings on the ends (small round rubber rings), if they fell off or gotten stuck on the other filter it won't seal properly, or if seal are not required try Teflon tape, hopefully the treads are not crossed

Well when I looked at the threading I saw no damage or anything but I never thought to look to see if I my fuel lines had o rings at the end. I will check that!
