whining noise when I turn my steeling wheel
so my 2000 mustang makes a whining noise as well when I turn the steering wheel, it is
at its worst when when I am turning the steering wheel but I can still hear it if I get close
the engine were the steering pump is located. A mechanic I know wasn't worried about it
and said it was because there was a little bit of air in the power steering fluid, getting rid of
some of the air helped but it did not get rid of it though. any ideas?
Could be a worn power steering pump or rack & pinion unit. Or just low on power steering fluid. When adding fluid don't use automatic transmission fluid!! It will damage the system. Use only power steering fluid! HTH. -Jim
@Js08016 thanks for the reply, it has all the correct fluid at the correct levels.
You're welcome. Glad to help. -Jim
Loose belt or check alternator. It could be weak battery causing alternator to work harder.
