what does the ect stand for and what does it do. i just bought this car and have no manuals for the car.

Everyone says it stands for Electronic Controlled Transmission. It put the trans into a sport mode allowing for faster acceleration.

its just a power mode for using mainly in big citys that you have to hurry up in and gives you more power to move faster but do not use it excessifly it uses only 3 gears and does take up gas, I have a Hyundai elantra and I use it for big citys only traveling only 40 no more than that cause I constantly do stops and go's do not use it on the high way your transmission wont shift to the ending gears so don't blow the tranny
