Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi I have a Ford Focus 2000 Se. left front brake gets hot after few minutes of driving
and there is lots of scratch on the brake plate. Last week when I was driving, I couldn't
be able to drive fast. I was pressing the gas really hard and it was only driving at 40. It
stopped starting as soon as I turned off the car, I had to give boost to get it running.
Please help. I don't know what is wrong.  I just bought this car. I'm attaching a pic of
my front brake.

Your brake caliper is stuck and you have worn through the pad. You need, at the very minimum, new pads and new discs. Always, ALWAYS, do both sides at the same time, so replace all 4 pads and both rotors. There is a good chance you need to replace the calipers as well. On a 13 year old car, I would do the flex lines too, while the calipers are off. They are not expensive.
