growl noise on turns on 2002 JG Cherokee
When I make turns with my JGC it makes a growling/dry rubbing sound. I
have been to 4 different places and no one can tell me what it is. They
have had different opinions. Of course all the opinions come with a price
tag. Thee last opinion is the differential. We gave the OK to repair.
Guess what, not the differential. Now it's the transfer case. Cost $98 for
differential. Will cost $1800 for rebuild on transfer case. I cannot keep
throwing money out and never fix the problem. OK that's my problem.
What do you think the noise is? (Please don't send a bill...I'm tapped out)
Is it louder when you turn right or left? Typically, if it only growls when turning in one direction, it's a front hub bearing.
I honestly never paid attention. I always thought it was the same both ways. I know if I take a real wide turn sometimes I can get away with no noise. I will try the turn thing next time I drive it. Thank you for the response.
