From the owners manual: Fluid And Filter Changes Under normal operating conditions, the fluid installed at the factory will provide satisfactory lubrication for the life of the vehicle. Routine fluid and filter changes are not required. However, change the fluid and filter if the fluid becomes contaminated (with water, etc.), or if the transmission is disassembled for any reason.

Thanks Gary. Had the brakes checked a few months ago at the dealer ref a squeak noise @ 94,000 mi. Brakes were still rated excellent (10 front/9.4 rear), found the squeak was probably Chrysler product/wet weather related & soon stopped. Was flabbergasted w/the brake pads condition ! Told the Svc. mngr. I'd thought about changing the transmission fluid at 100,000 mi. He suggested a transmission fluid change @ 150,000 mi. But I see now there's no need. This '16 Overland is unbelievable & runs like new, now at 105,000 mi.

Not sure I agree... I have a 2016 jeep grand cherokee 5.7L.. I changed the transmission fluid and pan at 39K miles. There was a lot of metal particles attached to the magnets inside.. the filter was black in color and the fluid was dark brown as compared to the new fluid which is light in color. I agree dealers now say you can hold off but if you own and dont lease I recommend changing your fluid at least 50K miles.
