2000 Ford Explorer V8 rattles and loses power when accelerating
2000 Ford Explorer V8 rattles and loses power when accelerating. Rattle stops when ease up on accelerator
Is the rattle engine ping or is it a mechanical noise?
mechanical noise only while accelerating. power decreases making it difficult to climb a small hill
If you have a hard knock then you may have a bad rod bearing. You need to have a mechanic check it out before you drive it anymore.
Not a hard knock. A rattle that stops when ease off accelerator. I read elsewhere that dirty air filter may cause it. Do you agree?
It can't hurt to change your air filter but it would have nothing to do with the noise. Try using premium gas and see what happens, Maybe all you have is pinging from low octane gas. Have you tuned up the car lately?
