Car won't crank

Asked by Jun 07, 2016 at 01:21 PM about the 2006 Hyundai Sonata GLS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have you guys thought about the security system in
the car or maybe the chip in the key isn't being
read?

That use to happen back in the early 90's but not so much anymore, usually an outside force like a high static charge or a dense magnetic field is the most common cause for a chip to malfunction these days.

What about the security system itself?

They are programmed into the main processor that handles engine management. The average Tech cannot reprogram the processor.
