clutch or shifter problem?
I have a 2000 ford explorer sport, today something happened to my shifter or clutch maybe... it will not allow me to shift into ANY gears, im stuck in neutral! clutch pedal feels very loose as well. someone said it may be a slave cylinder, is that true? what is your guess?
The clutch pedal may be indicating the problem because if it's not in the correct position ... your not going to get out of the "interlocked position"
turn off engine does the sifter change gears if it does its something with the clutch if hydraulic could be master or slave cylinder if cable could be broken cable
dmcdonald2k... a few people have told me that it is probably the master or slave cylinder. Thank you! :) it is a standard, yes it is hydrolic, no it will not change gears at all, whether the truck is on or off. .... can someone please tell me how I can tell which one needs to be fixed, the slave or master?
if wont shift I n off position you need to pull the shifter out there is plastic piece bushing I've seen them break and get stuck in internal linkage
should shift fairly easily when off with clutch in.

or get someone to see if slave cylinder moves under truck when you push clutch

under on side of bell housing follow line from clutch master cylinder to slave cylinder it can be bled like brakes also.
bushing is like 5.00 just have to get all the pieces out
if shifter wont move its probably in the shifter
if it doesn't move and not leaking bleed it if master is bad take off top of reservoir when you push clutch it will bypass or fluid will like squirt up in reservoir.if not low on fluid probably cluych master cylinder wish I was there it would take me 10 minutes to figure it out.

Ok I bled the slave and now it shifts into gears with engine off... BUT NOT WHEN ENGINE IS RUNNING?... Any clue?
I just want to remind you that it IS a hydrolic clutch & and the thro out is part of the slave cylinder. And the slave is n internal one
throw out bearing or clutch pressure plate bad gonna have to put new clutch
We figured it would b best if we replaced master slave and full clutch assembly for best results.the parts r only 200$
