Head lights on automatically, tale lights need turned on, a pain to remember to turn on

We own a sx4 Suzuki 2011. Why do the tale lights not stay on but headlights
do. Driving at night head lights are on but keep forgetting to turn switch to
get tale lights on. Is it wired incorrectly?
