Fuel pump

Asked by Dec 28, 2016 at 04:21 PM about the 1992 Honda Accord EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The fuel pump will not kick on but you can
beat on the bottom of the tank and it will
kick on.what would cause this?

Either a loose connection or a gummed-up or mechanically failing pump would cause this. I would start by wiggling the wires and connectors first while someone else holds the key on, if that doesn't correct it, remove and replace the pump. More than likely the pump is shot though.
