A4 2010

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had a crack in my windshield so i got it
replaced, since then every time it would rain
my car wont start. I would have to jump it
and it was working. One night it rained and i
couldnt find anyone to help me jump the car.
So i just wiped the battery a little so it can be
dry and the car started. Next day again, it
wasnt working. Someone came to jump the
car BUT they put the wires wrong and since
then the car never started again. What do i
do? What got damaged?

I'm guessing that the windshield repair left a leak that drains water onto something in the battery system and shorts out the connection. The auxiliary battery from a jump bypasses this..... The crossed wires didn't help; it probably blew one or more fuses.

How do i check which fuses blew out to get it replaced? Cause i took it to mechanics some said its an electric problems that they’re not familiar with so no work was done. Another replaced my starter when that was never the issue cause when we put direct power to the starter it would crank. So idk why he did that. And some say the ecm has to be reprogrammed. Someone mentioned the main battery fuse, i found where it is but idk how to check it if its any good.

If lights work, it's not the mega-fuse. Other fuses are labeled inside the box covers.... I'd go back to the idiot mechanic who charged you for a new starter and get your money back; never pay for work that didn't fix the problem. Audi's are temperamental; you should never go to any mechanic who isn't Audi certified. Also, I believe Audi batteries have to be programed to the car; just any ol' battery won't do.
