Asked by Aug 28, 2016 at 05:24 AM about the 2016 Kia Sorento EX Plus AWD

Question type: General

I've been using 91 octane Gas, is this an over kill? Also I
noticed a rapid ticking sound when I start up the engine
and my friend told me it's the Turbo. Can anyone give
some insight?

Thank you

Should be in the owners manual. Kia recommends 87 or higher. Up to you to spend more on the 91. The ticking noise on a new vehicle is a concern to me. It might be normal, but I would have the dealership service department determine that.

87 Octane is all that it needs. Get the ticking noise checked out as it is still under warranty.

Thanks for the answers, yeah I did read the manual and since it didn't say specifically I thought I would ask. I did search some more last night regarding the ticking sound and it turns out it's common for this model with the turbo engine During worm up ( a few minutes). I will still get it checked, but it does run very nice. I'll go half ways and use 89, but then I will wonder when I should use fuel additives ugh. I hate to wate until I need to or should have you know.

I would recommend using a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner once or twice a year to keep engine deposits down. Other than that, gasoline has all the necessary additives in it when you buy it at the pump. Buying "top tier" gasoline is always best. Can I use 89 plus gasoline on my Kia Sedona 2006? Because I just did by accident and I always use 87 unleaded???
