Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my spouse had a shade tree mechanic change transmissions in her car the replacement is used and from a reputable junk yard. now we have to progress up the gears and even then there's not much power when changing up. but when at the proper speed it seems to work normally. she also had him change the filter and I checked and there's enough fluid. does anyone have any ideal what is or could be the problem.

Hard to know until you take the trans apart. Junkyard engines and transmissions are a crap shoot. You got the short stick in the case.
