2015 Hyundai Elantra GLS high rpms

Asked by Jul 02, 2017 at 04:34 PM about the 2015 Hyundai Elantra GLS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving my car today on the highway, on a typical
day in 6th gear going 100km/h on a relatively flat road the
rpms would be 2500. Today for some reason I was driving
the same conditions and my car was telling me to put it in
6th gear when it already was, I took notice of my rpms
and they were up to 4000 rpms, I took it out of 6th gear,
put it in 5th, then back in 6th and the rpms were still high.
I pulled over then tried again and everything went back to
normal. I bought my car brand new, I've been driving it
since November 2014 and I know this isn't normal. It's still
under warranty so I'll be bringing it in on Tuesday
(tomorrows a holiday), just wondering what everyone
thinks this is so I can have an idea of what I'm dealing
with.
