Does a Accord have struts or
shocks, and if so, what happens
when they go bad?
My car has a loud knocking noise
on some roads.
The car has front and rear struts...here is a good read on struts https://www.reference.com/vehicles/safe-drive-bad-struts-6f90ac02dcc78344
That type of noise can also be associated with ball joints. Unless you drove into a Jehovah's Witnesses' neighborhood.
Would the ball joints only make that noise when you hit bumps? That's the only time it makes the noise. But it sounds like something is gonna fall off. How can you tell the difference between the ball joint and struts. I personally think it's the joints.
Do you have a jack? You can check if they are good or not. http://www.wikihow.com/Check-Ball-Joints
No, I would not know where to look, but I was told that the struts would cause a lot of bouncing, like when you hit a dip you just keep bouncing for a min. The ball joint will make a knocking noise, an get worse over time, an when it goes completely out I'll have to have it towed. I really don't think it's the struts. But does that sound about right?
