Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My husband had to slam on the brakes a few days ago and when he did, a
number 4 lit up on the dash and stayed there as he continued driving. Once he
stopped and turned the vehilce off and back on, the number 4 was gone. Does
anyone know what this was? I can't find any information anywhere as to what
this might have indicated or was it some kind of warning?

Sounds like the gearshift got bumped sideways and 4th gear was selected. This is the manual transmission selector at work. It's covered in the owner's manual.(Electronic Range Selection) page 45.
