Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2010 Dodge Avenger will sometimes start but not all the time specially on
colder days. What would do that ? The battery is just a couple years old. Any
suggestions would be great.  Thanks in advance.

When was the last time you tuned up the engine? Even 2 year old batteries can let you down when it is really cold.

It drives fine when it does run but even on a mild day it needs a boost. We were even thinking the alternator too maybe?

If your battery is strong most of the time then I doubt it is the alternator. Do you have a voltage meter or an amp meter in your dash? If so what does it show? Batteries lose a lot of capacity when cold. Clean the battery terminals and cable ends and if you can, check the water level in the battery.

I suggest having the battery tested and the alternator tested. You don't want your car to let you down when you need it.
