Battery light after new starter installed

Asked by Amom Feb 18, 2016 at 09:54 AM about the 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

02 tahoe had starting issues sporadic over last
year or so then often after new alternator..now we
put in new starter last night and now I'm noticing
the battery light comes on at crank for few
seconds and at  turn off for a few seconds and this
has never happened before.  The battery has been
checked during alternator repair and it's an optima
red top and is supposedly good.  I'm going to go by
auto parts and have them check battery again
today but just wondering what it is now?

The battery light should be on anytime the key is on and the engine is off. It's normal for it to be on for a couple seconds after cranking. If it's on for over a minute then you have an alternator problem
