Overheated and bad noise

My sons passport got hot comeing up the hill to the
house he came to a stop and it stalled he started it
back up and came home then shut it off cooled
down started it back up and there's a noise in the
moter it starts rite up runs good just has that loud
noise checked oil that's good checked and freeze
that's good you thinks is a rod or could it be
something else thanks for any info

IF he overheating the engine, could have done some engine damage. Fix the coolant leak or overheating issue, change the oil and hope for the best.
