rear brakes noise

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have been driving my car since July 13th, 2012 and I've been fixing it up as something goes wrong or
needs to be mended. Well for about a month or two there has been a noise from the rear drum brakes like
it's grinding metal to metal or something..., I have checked and so has my dad and there is a smooth
surface and enough brake pad left on it to where it shouldn't make that sound. I just wonder what it could
be...,

There is normally a metal warning tab attached to your shoes that rubs on your brake drum when it is time to replace your shoes. This can make quite a racket.

I'll have to check again and see if it's worn down any and I am going to replace the drums and pads anyways when I get the money.

I have gotten them fixed before Thanksgiving.., the brake cylinder on the rear left had a hole in it. The right rear top spring was gone and the right rear brakes on the bottom was the only part touching the brake drum..., they are now fixed :)
