Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Need to sell today, pd $3,750 last year,
drove it for 3 wks & transmission started
going out. It's super nice with awesome
loaded features, still runs but won't go but a
few feet. I need cash asap, I'm a single
mom with 2 kids

I just paid $3600 for the odyssey transmission overhaul that corrects the factory flaw that kills these transaxles at 100k to 130k miles. Engine is fine, interior is fine - I going to drive it for another 14 years. I was going to donate it to a charity and take the blue book value for average as the charitable deduction. Doubt you will get much interest. By the way, whoever sold it to you knew the tranny was going, first sign is a little thud when it changes gears 2 to 3 in a regular acceleration, and then at 55-60mph it will have a little stuttering if you let off the gas for a second or two and then press it back to resume the previous speed, like it wants to change to a lower gear, then decides to stay in 4th. If it did any of those things when you test drove it and the seller told you it was low on tranny fluid or any other crap story, he/she may still be on the hook for whatever lemon law is in effect in your state or in fed law now. If it was a dealer, they are required to tell you of any problems they "are aware of". Same is true in many states, maybe it is a fed law - you have the reason to search it out, so I'll leave it at that. If nothing else, you just paid very high tuition to learn the simple lesson of getting every used vehicle checked out by YOUR mechanic before buying. Good Luck.
